Clinical Counsellor

Position Type: Permanent, 20 hrs per week

Job Summary: 

Experience with a variety of treatment modalities (e.g., person centered, solution focused and cognitive behavioral approaches) and techniques. Experience utilizing play therapy (and/or art therapy, music therapy, and other expressive therapy) approaches with children. A demonstrated ability in working with mandated clients who face multiple challenges that impact upon parenting (mental health diagnosis, family dynamics, communication, family violence, child abuse and addiction). Assess appropriateness of referred clients and refer families to other resources better suited to their individual or family needs, as required

Aboriginal Family Counsellor

Intensive Family Preservation & Reunification

Location: Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows/Katzie

Position Type: Permanent, 35 hours

Job Summary:

The Family Counsellor provides a variety of parenting education and supportive Interventions that promote healthier family functioning and utilization of community resources to aboriginal families.  Aboriginal identifying peoples are strongly encouraged to apply and may be given preference. Child Care Assistant

Location: Vancouver

Position Type: Casual Hourly for Groups

Job Summary

This position provides child care for children 0 – 12 years while their parents/caregivers are attending day or evening group programs. Groups are held on an irregular (ie not on-going) schedule, in order to meet fluctuating client needs. This position would be well suited for students who want casual work to supplement their income or mom’s that are reentering the work force.

Specialized Parenting Support Counsellor

Location: Vancouver

Position Type: Temporary Vacancy, 35 hours/week 

Job Summary:

Westcoast Family Centres Society (WFCS) Family Ties Services offers a Parenting Support Service for parents challenged by parenting after separation or divorce.  In some of these cases aforementioned, there many complex Family Law Act (FLA)  issues that include:  organizing Access (supervised and unsupervised) Visits for Parenting Time and promoting effective co-parenting, concerns with parental alienation and disorganized attachment issues, children experience and witness of domestic violence, and individuals affected by intimate relationship and domestic violence. The counselor will be working closely with parents referred by a social worker from MCFD due to complex FLA matters and will be responsible for the transition and support for parents in the best interest of the child.

Team Leader

Location: Vancouver

Job Summary:

The Vancouver Team Leader will oversee the Vancouver Family Services programs and assumes professional case responsibility for the quality of work done by individual personnel and the team. To ensure that service delivery is performed according to and within the mission, values statement, policy/procedural directions, and treatment model of Westcoast Family Centres Society. Through ongoing supervision of employees, they ensure required training opportunities, empowerment and support are in place. The Vancouver Team Leader functions as a participating member of the management team, which is led by the Chief Executive Officer, who administers the overall operations of the agency.

Family Circle Group Facilitator

Location: Maple Ridge

Position Type: Casual - until March 31, 2018 - 5 hours/week

Job Summary:

The facilitator will run the Family Circle component of the Indigenous Intensive Family Preservation and Reunification Program. This group will provide a relaxed and informal environment where families will cook and share a meal as well participate in culturally relevant activities and discussion. Indigenous peoples with required skills and knowledge will be given preference when hiring.

Therapeutic Supervised Access Worker

Location: Vancouver

Position Type: Temporary Vacancy, 35 hours

Job Summary:

The Therapeutic Supervised Access Worker provides supervision and monitoring for visits between parents and their children where there are concerns for physical, psychological or emotional safety. Visits will take place in the family home, the foster family’s home, or in a program or community setting. Visits could be between one family or with a group of families, if this is appropriate. The Therapeutic Supervised Access Worker will/may provide transportation to and from a visit for children. This position is temporary vacancy for 35 hours per week. This position is temporary for 1 year and will be reevaluated prior to the end of the year. This position may be required to work weekends and evenings as well.
