Fran Maclean
Board Position: President
Occupation: Deputy Regional Crown Counsel

Fran Maclean was elected to the Board in 1999. She served as Chair on the Board from 2004–2007 and 2012-2013 and is currently serving as Vice-Chair. Fran was called to the Bar in 1985 and serves as Crown Counsel since 1988. Fran is one of four Deputy Regional Crown Counsel assisting the Regional Crown Counsel with leadership/management in the Fraser Region, a geographic area comprised of seven Crown Counsel offices and over 180 Crown Counsel and support staff. Her responsibilities include application and review of Criminal Justice Branch policies.

Mikaela Taylor
Board Position: Treasurer
Occupation: Partner of Assurance Services with BDO Canada LLP.

Mikaela Taylor was elected to the Board of Directors in 2005 and has since been serving as the Board Treasurer. Ms. Taylor is a Chartered Accountant and Partner of Assurance Services with BDO Canada LLP. She joined BDO Canada in 2015. She spent seventeen years at KPMG LLP, providing business advisory and auditing services in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical  sectors, and spent two years as the Corporate Controller of Coastal Contacts Inc., a publicly traded multi-national optical products company based in Vancouver, BC. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce in International Business and Accounting from McGill University. She also serves on the Board of the Student Biotech Network.

The Hon. James Bahen
Board Position: Director
Occupation: Provincial Court Judge, Surrey, BC

Jim Bahen was elected to the Board of Directors in December 2008. Jim received his education in Calgary and Toronto. He has been practicing Criminal Law since 1985. In January 2009, Jim was appointed Queens Counsel. Jim is a member of the Legal Aid committee of BC Bar Association and also holds a position as adjunct faculty in the U.B.C. Law School as one of the Lawyers who supervise Law students in the U.B.C. Law Schools Criminal Law Clinic course. Jim is a volunteer Lawyer/Instructor in the Trial Advocacy Programs at the U.B.C. Law School. On Jan. 4, 2011, Jim was appointed to the British Columbia Provincial Court in Surrey.

Trish Wallace
Board Position: Director
Occupation: Hostess & Dieatary Aide - Hollyburn House

Trish Wallace was elected to the Board fo Directors in 2000. In her current term, Trish is serving as the Board Secretary. Trish enjoys being part of the community and has volunteered with several organizations in the past, including the Elizabeth Fry Society. Trish is currently employed by Hollyburn House in West Vancouver.

John Clark
Board Position: Vice President
Occupation: Legal Counsel, Department of Justice

John Clark was elected to the Board of Directors in 1990. Currently, John is serving on the Board as Chair. John is a lawyer and was called to the bar in 1986. He has practiced in the area of Environmental Law for the Federal Department of Justice for over 25 years. Before practicing law, John worked for a year with an emergency aid organization in the downtown eastside of Vancouver called Lookout. For the last several years, John as been active with the annual fundraising drives of both United Way and Canadian Diabetes Foundation.

Major Brar
Board Position: Secretary
Occupation: Managing Director, Labour Relations, Overwaitea Food Group

Major Brar is the newest member of the Board. He graduated from Simon Fraser University with an Arts degree. He holds a CHRP and is currently Director of Labour Relations for the Overwaitea Food Group, a company that spans across BC and Alberta. He has been with the company for over 19 years. His core responsibilities are to oversee the administration of their various collective agreements, including being the chief spokesperson at bargaining. He currently sits on the Board of Trustees for their Union Health & Welfare plan.

Shannon Svingen-Jones
Board Position: Director
Occupation: Cold Bore Technology

Shannon is our newest member of the Board with a background in education and over 15 years working with both non-for-profit and for-profit education sectors. Her career began as an Early Childhood, Special Needs and Infant Toddler Educator. Shannon held the title of Executive Director of Novaco Childcare Centre, located adjacent to the Squamish Nation Reserve in North Vancouver. For the past five years, Shannon held the role of Dean of Student Affairs and Director of Services in the Art Institute of Vancouver. Prior to the Art Institute of Vancouver, she spent 5 years as Regional Director of Operations for Vancouver Career College where she wrote the Early Childhood Education curriculum for the college, seeing successful approval by Minisitry of Education.
