Help Kids Play

At Westcoast Family Centres, we recognize the continued stress and financial hardships that our clients face year-round.

Our Help Kids Play campaign aims to support WFC families whose children (Kindergarten – Grade 12) are looking to spend time outside, experiencing new and fun activities.

As the days get warmer, many children who receive our services want to join sports teams, attend an art class, or buy new equipment, but many of them are limited in funds to do so!

At Westcoast, we recognize that play is one of the primary ways in which children grow, learn, and make sense of the world. With a direct impact on the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional well-being of children, opportunities for play are essential for healthy development and behaviour, shaping the way children think, feel, move, and relate to others.

With your help and support, we can provide opportunities for children to grow their interpersonal skills and self-confidence, leaving a lasting impact on the families we serve.

Help us support WFC children as they head into Spring & Summer 2026 with a donation of a gift card, voucher, or cash to participate in recreational activities!

Giving back is easy! There are two ways you can help:

Cash Donation

Donate a cash donation at westcoastfamily.org/donate by selecting ‘Help Kids Play’ as your fund of choice.

Donations are accepted year-round and will be used to directly support Westcoast families for opportunities of play.

Tax receipts will be distributed automatically for all fund donations received.

Activity Vouchers or Gift Cards

Purchase a gift card and arrange a drop off at the ‘Link’, our Vancouver Location (2780 E Broadway, Vancouver, BC , V5M 1Y8) between Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m

Examples of gift cards to support play could be from the following:

  • Play Equipment Stores: e.g. SportChek, Mountain Warehouse, Walmart, Canadian Tire
  • Play Opportunities: e.g. Recreational Centres, Swimming Pools, Indoor Playgrounds, Play Places

We also accept Activity Vouchers, memberships or virtual redeemable codes (via email or mail) from organizations with play opportunities. Examples we would accept include:

  • Vouchers for swim lessons
  • Art gallery memberships & tickets
  • Redeemable codes for games
  • Tickets to The Fair, Aquarium or live events
  • Vouchers for sports camps

Email development@westcoastfamily.org to coordinate and for more information.

In 2025, we received donations from the following organizations:

  • Pedalheads
  • The Vancouver Art Gallery
  • PNE
  • Royal Soccer Club
  • The Adventure Zone

These donations provided WFC youth and families with opportunities to access play-based activities such as swimming lessons, exploring the arts, amusement parks, soccer camps, and so much more!

PNE is expensive and would have been hard to get the passes. It was a great family activity and very grateful to have had the opportunity to go together as a family.

I took my children to playland thanks to Help Kids Play and they had a wonderful time on all the rides. This activity was one I would not have otherwise been able to afford for our family, I really appreciate the passes!
